TRANSFER any data to
any computer - without installing or configuring
anything! |
 |
BACKUPKEY's Transfer functions are so
unique and useful, the technology is
patent-pending Consider:
you can move, share or synchronize any data with any other
computer - instantly!
No network, no Internet, no burning CDs - no planning ahead...It's all there in your
BACKUPKEY. |
 |
|
Any or all of your data |
 |
Look at the BACKUPKEY screen to the right.
Notice that it lists all of the computers that have been backed up.
Some computers have multiple users.
All of your backed-up data is here.
If you need files from Donna's computer, just select
ACCOUNTING/DONNA to see them. |
 |
|
No installation, no
configuration |
 |
|
Remember that BACKUPKEY works on any
Windows computer without installation or
configuration. The same is true for the Transfer
functions. So if you just want to share a file
with a friend, just plug in and go! |
 |
|
MOVING your data |
 |
What if your computer dies?
What if you get a promotion and change computers?
What if you replace an old computer with a new one? |
 |
That's when you need to MOVE data - when you
will no longer be using the old computer.
With BACKUPKEY, it's easy. |
 |
1) Check the boxes of the items you want to move.
(Yes, you can move everything - or just one file)
2) Click "Restore Selected to This Computer" |
 |
|
BACKUPKEY puts all of the selected data - from a different computer -
in the RIGHT place on the computer you are using now,
EVEN IF THE NEW COMPUTER HAS A DIFFERENT VERSION OF WINDOWS THAN THE OLD ONE. |
 |
|
From XP to VISTA in one easy move |
 |
That last bit is so revolutionary, it requires a
little more thought. Windows Vista has a
completely different file organization than
Windows XP. BACKUPKEY knows where everything
goes and puts it where it belongs. For example,
it puts files from "My Documents" (XP) into
"Documents" (Vista - a different folder name as
well as a different location).
And yes, it works in the opposite direction (Vista to XP or 2000) as well. |
 |
|
SHARING your data |
 |
What if you have a presentation to give on someone else's computer?
What if you need to complete some work at home?
What if you want to play an MP3 song for your friend? |
 |
That's when you need to SHARE data - when you
want to use your files on another computer, then
go back to your own.
With BACKUPKEY, it's easy. (You knew I
was going to say that, didn't you?) |
 |
1) Check the boxes of the items you want to share.
(Yes, you can share everything - or just one file)
2) Click "Copy Selected to Your Desktop" |
 |
|
BACKUPKEY puts all of the selected data - from a different computer -
on the Desktop of the computer you are using now.
Why the Desktop? Because it's the easiest place to find a file
that has just been copied onto the computer.
The file(s) will appear in a folder that identifies it as a
BACKUPKEY transfer,
along with the source of the file and today's date. |
 |
|
Once the file is on your desktop, you can use it
as you like. |
 |
|
SYNCHRONIZING your data |
 |
|
Synchronizing is the process of identifying the
latest version of a file and placing it on every
relevant computer. For example, if a company
uses one primary sales presentation in
PowerPoint format, that presentation may change
over time as new products, pricing and personnel
replace the old ones. Typically, one person
makes the changes in the PowerPoint file. How
then does that new version get to all of the
people who use it? |
 |
|
BACKUPKEY allows you to synchronize one
file or everything on your computer at any time,
with any other Windows computer, without
installing or configuring anything. If you
have ever used synchronization software, you
know that installing and configuring the
software is a complex and precise endeavor - and
you must do it on every computer! |
 |
|
With BACKUPKEY, there is one requirement
for synchronization. The synchronized file(s)
must be in the equivalent location on each computer
(e.g., "My Documents\Company Presentations" in
XP and "Documents\Company Presentations" in
Vista).
So when Donna updates the presentation, she backs
up her computer as usual, then gives the
BACKUPKEY to you. Here's what you do: |
 |
1) Plug it in and press 'Enter'
2) On the TRANSFER page, find and double-click
on Donna's computer
3) Double-click "Documents"
4) Check "Company
Presentations"
5) Click "Restore Selected to This Computer"
|
 |
|
The latest version of ALL company presentations will be copied into your
Documents area (My Documents if you use Windows
XP/2000 - of course BACKUPKEY puts it in
the right place), in your "Company Presentations"
folder. If the folder doesn't exist, BACKUPKEY
will create it for you. Now you have the latest
version of the presentations. |
 |
|
If you prefer to synchronize just one presentation,
you can go into the "Company Presentations":
folder and selected just one (or more ) files. |
