Why does Windows Vista gave me an error?

Vista has more stringent security than that of XP or 2000.
It doesn't like to run programs located on external drives without specific approval.
You need to give Vista that approval. Here's how: |
When you plug your BACKUPKEY drive into a Vista computer for the FIRST time,
Windows should present you with a pop-up option window.
Tell the pop-up window to "Open folder to view files". |
In the resulting window, right-click the BACKUPKEY application
(it will be on the right) and select “Run as administrator”, then
"Allow". |
The SECOND time you use BACKUPKEY on that computer, the pop-up includes a check box to
"Always do this for software."
Check that box, then "Back up my computer with BackupKey."
From then on, BACKUPKEY will run as soon as you plug it in without even pressing 'Enter'. |
